Details of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, and the Deputy President William Ruto’s Sunday 30 August meetings that have left Kenyans talking.
The Head of State reportedly made an unannounced visit to the Kisumu City to inspect the ongoing old Kisumu Port renovation.
President Kenyatta unannounced visit to Kisumu seemed secretive as there was no County Official who welcome the President and Raila who joined him as county governor Anyang’ Nyongo was reported to be in Nairobi for other official duties.
Back in Nairobi City County, the Secondin Command was also reportedly graced an event at Eastlands area for a school foundation building and later attended a Church Service at the AIC Church in Pipeline Embakasi East Constituency where he interacted with the congregants.
Kisumu residents, however, were treated to a rare occurrence after three military choppers landed at the Lake Victoria shores port and one of the occupants was the President and the media people were not given a chance to access the venue and were only confined at some distant viewpoint where they took shots of the two leaders moving in and out of the MV Uhuru ship.
Sources privy to the information revealed that the Head of State was later escorted to the Kisumu International Airport before flying to Mombasa.
Uhuru’s impromptu visit to Kisumu followed rumors of him touring the region anytime soon after several months of postponing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) popularization meeting with the opposition chief.
