ODM leader Raila Odinga yesterday 27 Aug 2020 met a delegation of leaders drawn from all over the country to discuss various matters affecting the country with finer details of the meeting still scanty.
Sources privy to the closed-door meeting revealed that Odinga met the various youth leaders at a closed-door meeting in his upper hill offices in Nairobi.
It still remains unclear if politics was part of Yesterday’s agenda, with the race for 2022 taking shape amid rebellion in the Jubilee faction, widening the rift between the DP and his boss.
Odinga seems to have moved swiftly by duplicating DP Ruto’s tactics of having different meetings with people from all quarters to initiate ties aimed at gaining grip ahead of his presidential bid.
DP Ruto has in the recent past been seen holding series of meetings with leaders of varied tiers from various regions.
The second in command has been hosting delegations at his Sugoi home and at his official residence in Karen as part of his efforts to build momentum for the 2022 elections.
Over the weekend, the Sugoi merchant will head down to the Coast and its neighboring Eastern region, keen to reap from the recent fallout in the ODM party.
The Coastal leaders led by Nyali MP Mohammed Ali and his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa recently voiced over the revenue sharing bill, neglect, and sell-out in their protest which saw more than 10 MPs threaten to severe ties with ODM party.
Among his greatest challengers in the 2022 race is the DP who is keen on securing the Coastal stretch with reports indicating that a super alliance bringing together Raila Odinga, Gideon Moi, and President Uhuru Kenyatta is in the offing.
