Amani National Congress ANC offices have been set on fire by unknown individuals coming in the background of disputes in the Mudavadi led party.
Residents living around the area said they woke up to a huge rage of fire razing down the premises housing ANC offices.
The said premises is said to be the regional office that manages all the documents and coordination of the ANC party in the larger Western region.
According to witnesses, a passerby noticed a cloud a smoke emitting from the office before raising an alarm.
The early morning arsonists are said to have broken their way into the building through the window before setting it ablaze.
The motive of the unknown culprits could not immediately be established but it came amid reports that the Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was expelled from the ANC party.
On Friday 26th June 2020, the ANC Governing Council approved the expulsion of the Kakamega Senator from the party over alleged gross misconduct and undermining the ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi.
The ANC Governing Council accused Senator Malala of making utterances and getting involved in activities at a political rally convened by the opponent ODM party at Kibra on Oct 27,2019, thereby prejudicing the integrity and reputation of the ANC Party, its members, and employees.
The Kakamega police have launched investigation into the matter to find out who were behind the fire and the motive as they say it could be the opponents or rogue individuals within the party to blame the opponents.
