ODM leader Raila has spoken for the first time after undergoing a successful surgery. Odinga, who is at the Saudi German Hospital Dubai (SGH Dubai)  was commenting in the just concluded Malawian elections.

”I congratulate the people of Malawi on the successful and peaceful presidential election and incoming President Lazarus Chakwera on his impressive victory,” Odinga said.

”I commend the outgoing President Peter Mutharika for creating the environment for a peaceful and orderly transfer of power. The election was followed keenly beyond Malawi and is a symbol of hope for those who support democracy in Africa and around the world,” he added.

ODM Deputy Leader Hassan Joho on Friday said Odinga was recoivering well after the minor surgery.

”I had the opportunity to speak to my party leader and my father the Baba of the nation. I feel happy and encouraged that he is progressing well,” the Mombasa Governor said. Joho, who has been a loyal soldier of Raila reminded Kenyans our leaders are humans too, and they do and they do fall sick sometimes.

“He has undergone a procedure. Let us not forget that even our leaders are human beings. Sometimes they get sick and are treated.” The governor also expressed his hopes Mr Odinga will be back in the country as soon as possible. ”I have no doubt that within the shortest time possible, Baba will be back in Kenya,” he said.
