President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are definitely reading from the same script!
Consequently, the Orange flavored supremo has ordered a radical surgery on National Assembly and Senate committees so as to lay the ground for smooth implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
This decision was arrived at following a meeting that Raila held on Thursday with his top Party organs and where he ordered that the house leadership moves quickly and change the composition of committees. Both Uhuru and the ODM chief are keen on taking complete control of the two Houses in implementing their agenda.
The four hours meeting was attended by Senate Minority Leader James Orengo, his National Assembly counterpart John Mbadi, Minority Whip Junet Mohamed and ODM head of political affairs and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi. Others were party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen and party treasurer Timothy Bosire.
Raila wants the committees reconstituted to ensure seamless implementation of the BBI report when it comes to Parliament since most of the things will be done in the National Assembly and Senate.
Orengo, Junet and Mbadi will meet next week to work on the reconstitution of committee membership. It is still not clear who will be moved.
