Moses Kuria kicks out tenants from his apartments over unpaid rent

Some families in Juja will be forced to spend the night in the cold after being kicked out of their houses over rent arrears.

This was after their landlord Moses Kuria turned furious and merciless on them and ordered their eviction after they failed to keep up with the rent payment in the exclusive two bedroom apartments in Juja estate, along Thika Superhighway.

Trouble started when the tenants through an organized coordination attempted to negotiate with him to waiver their rent dues to help cushion the adverse economic effects caused by the coronavirus pandemic in vain. Moses Kuria is said to have gone wild and said he is not an NGO to offer charity.

One of the evicted tenants Wanjiku wa Macharia narrated how their landlord Kuria visited their apartment while drunk to physically supervise their evictions.

Wanjiku said he {Kuria} started with disconnecting the power supply as a warning last week and lived to his threats in kicking them out this week after they failed to pay their full rent.

On 5th April 2020, the Landlords and Tenants Association (LATAK) directed tenants not to pay their rents until businesses in the country resume normal operations.

The association has also urged anyone being harassed or experiencing challenges to contact their toll-free emergency number 20777 .
