Shock as the government for the first time
has allowed a couple who tested positive for coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic which has sent the country into panic to go home to recover.
The two coronavirus patients were released to go to their upmarket Kitisuru home and
self-quarantine for 14 days after which they will be tested twice after 14 days of quarantine to confirm they have fully recovered from the virus.
The latest confirmed three cases in the country were the couple and one Burundi national who jeted in the country on 5 March increasing the number to seven.
The Burundian has been isolated at Mbagathi Hospital and is being monitored closely.
An official from Ministry of Health department stated that the couple were allowed to go home because they proved they had the capacity to self-isolate themselves at their Kitisuru home in Nairobi despite testing positive for coronavirus.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also stated on 18 March that isolation in a hospital was not mandatory.
“There is no reason to put you in a hospital when you have a severely bad cold. We can only take you there if you do not have the environment in which you can self-quarantine, ” reads Kagwe’s statement.
