Close Deputy President William Ruto associate Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has stated that DP Ruto has been stripped of his powers with the ongoing political ‘shinenigans’.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, March 10, the Senator compared his treatment now to his first term in office where he chaired most meetings and reported to the president.
“Former vice presidents had clear roles delegated to them just like the DP was during the first term when he chaired most of the meetings dealing with electricity, roads, youth, education and always reported to the president. He is almost directly being told to stay at home yet he was elected,” Murkomen said.
Soy MP Caleb Kositany also declared his stand with the Deputy President stating that they would take the war to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s doorsteps.
Kositany said that they wanted an explanation from the president regarding the humiliation DP Ruto is currently facing.
“The DP has been a victim of hate and disobedience by junior civil servants. The question we are asking is where is the president as his deputy is being harassed? We need the president to speak up on this matter. The safety and security of the DP must be guaranteed,” he said.
On the other hand Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu insists that DP Ruto has never lacked support from the state and that there is no threat to his position.
“Let’s get something straight. There’s William Ruto the deputy president, and then there’s William Ruto a 2022 presidential candidate.
“William Ruto has never complained of a lack of state support in his role as deputy president. He has everything he needs to be deputy president of Kenya. He has 100% government support in that role. He is secure and there is no threat to this position,” he saidm
