Suspended Kenya Airways employee Ali Gire resumes duty, KQ cancels suspension

    Ali Gire, the Kenya Airways employee who was suspended from duty has resumed work after the airline cancelled his suspension. Gire, a security personnel with the airline was suspended after he recorded a Chinese plane landing in the country amidst coronavirus scare.

    Kenya Airways had given reasons they suspended their employee who informed the public about the China Southern Flight which landed in the country last week. In a statement on Sunday, the airline said their action was prompted by what they termed as a breach of airport security procedures.

    ” We fully understand and appreciate the public interest generated by the suspension of one of our employees following the filming and circulation on social media the arrival of South China Flight No. 6044 on February 26th at 0725 hours,” the statement read in part.

    ”In accordance with standard HR procedure, the employee was suspended to allow a full investigation to determine facts of the matter,” it added.

    The Kenya Aviation Worker’s Union had demanded immediate reinstatement Gire Ali.
