The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission says the body is not aware Polycarp Igathe resigned as Nairobi County Deputy Governor. The commission says it never received a formal communication fro Igather and as such his resignation was never formalized.
Igathe would later join Equity Bank as its Chief Commercial Officer only four months after resigning as Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s deputy.
Igathe resigned from his post in January 2018 after he claimed that he has failed to earn the trust of Governor Mike Sonko to enable him work at the county.
“I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Administration and Management of the county. Without fear, favour or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians and my family. Thank you for the encouraging support given to me so far,” he said in a post on his Twitter account.
Sonko in March unveiled a short list of 22 prominent personalities as possible replacements for his ex-deputy governor with Igathe surprisingly making it in the list even after resigning.
Their fallout was allegedly instigated by claims that Igathe was a State house mole sent to keep an eye on Sonko.
