Following the mysterious death of Kahawa-Wendani MCA Cyrus Omondi, MCAs who had travelled with him to India reportedly switched off their phones after breaking the sad news of Omondi’s death through a WhatsApp group.
“Ater they broke news of Omondi’s death, all the MCAs in the Education Committee, switched off their cell phones, and none of us (in Kenya) could reach them,” Theta ward MCA Simon Kuria told a local media house.
Omondi was among a host of MCAs whonhad travelled to India to attend an educational workshop where he was found dead in his hotel room.
Kiambu County Speaker Stephen Ndichu has since confirmed the incident, stating that initial reports have pointed at heart attack as the possible cause of death.
Witethie MCA Julius Taki stated that Omondi’s death came as a surprise given that he was of sound health during his entire time at the Assembly.
Omondi became the only Luo MCA to be elected in Kiambu after ditching ODM to vie with a Jubilee ticket in the August elections of 2017.
