Former IEBC commissioner told off after mocking ODM’S Raila Odinga

Kwale Women Representative Zuleikha Hassan has hit out at former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Roslyne Akombe after she mocked ODM leader Raila Odinga for meeting Mt Kenya leaders.

The opposition Chief on Thursday, January 23 met Governors, Senators and leaders of Mt Kenya Foundation led by billionaire businessman Peter Munga to discuss how the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) can help solve some of the challenges facing the populous region.”Held meetings with political and community leaders from the Mt. Kenya region. We reviewed the BBI and its implications for matters critical to them including Agriculture, Representation, Youth Empowerment, Sharing of Revenue, national unity and economic well-being of the nation,” Raila Odinga tweeted.

In her response Akombe ridiculed him saying the meetings were between ‘young men and women’.

“Great to see the young men and women of diverse socio-economic backgrounds sitting around the table discussing issues of “agriculture, representation, youth empowerment, sharing of revenue, national unity…”,” she posted.

In a rejoinder, Zuleikha told off Akombe and noted she has been of importance to the country but has now turned out to be an irritant. She said the meetings between Raila and the Mt Kenya leaders were important since it is them who will lead in mobilising citizens to give their views to the BBI taskforce.

“Please. You were helping the Country but now just spitting venom. Its the leadership that for all practical purposes does the mobilisation. Youths are very much part of the BBI delegates who are contributing to the amendments of the constitution,” the Women Rep tweeted on Saturday.

Raila Odinga met Senators Ephraim Maina (Nyeri), Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a), Isaac Mwaura (Nominated) and Nyandarua’s Mwangi Githiomi.Raila, who was accompanied by Siaya Senator James Orengo, also held closed-door discussion with Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and his Nyandarua counterpart Francis Kimemia.
