Police Open Teargas on DP Ruto’s Allies at a Parallel BBI Rally in Mumias to Disperse the Crowd

A section of leaders allied to the Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday 18 January faced the wrath of authority as police used teargas on them to disrupt the parallel Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally in Mumias.

DP Ruto allies led by former Sports CS Rashid Echesa and Dr. Bonny Khalwale who had earlier maintained that they would not back down and will continue with the rally at Mumias as planned despite police canceling the meeting found it unpleasant as police officers moved in and used force to ensure the police directive is followed to the letter.

Drama ensued when the former Sports CS Rashid Eshesa took to the podium to address the small crowd that had attended the rally, police did not hesitate but lobby teargas on them to disperse the crowd.
