Jubilee Majority Leader in the National Assembly and Garissa MP Aden Duale has told President Uhuru Kenyatta his handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga is a recipe for chaos and has divided the country right in the middle. In an extensive interview with one of the local media houses, Duale says that the Uhuru, Raila initiative has not only destroyed the Jubilee Party but also it has led to the death of NASA, the coalition Raila Odinga used in 2017.
“It has destroyed Jubilee’s internal political bridges, destabilised our party’s political strongholds, undermined the constitutional officeholders, and has killed Nasa (National Super Alliance) bridges. The political tensions have seen the emergence of political gangs, abuse of the rule of law by civil servants and disenfranchisement of communities,”Duale said.
“Mr President, you meant well in the interest of the country and the unity of our people to embrace the handshake, but it has left your party, supporters and Kenya more divided than ever.” he added.
Duale, who is a strong supporter of DP William Ruto is believed to be just a conduit pipe of DP Ruto’s sentiments. These remarks can be interpreted to mean the DP is still very uneasy with the handshake despite public pronouncements on how he has been comfortable with the same.
