‘I Hold No Personal Grudges Against Ruto,’ Raila Says, Confirms ODM Will Have a Candidate in 2022

ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has addressed his seemingly dicey relationship with Deputy President William Ruto during an interview with NTV on Monday, 9, 2019.

Raila spoke about his differences with the deputy president, averring that he harbored no ill-will towards the DP.

“I have no personal issues with Deputy President William Ruto. We’ve worked together before and whenever we disagreed, we’ve made it public that we do not agree on a certain issue but there are no personal grudges,” he disclosed.

The former Premier reiterated that the BBI report was in no way meant to set himself and President Uhuru up for lofty positions after the 2022 General Election.

He also addressed claims that he was set to take another stab at the presidency during the 2022 General Election where he made it clear that he had no designs in regards to running for the top office again.

“I have never said I have intentions for 2022. We want a strong united country for the future generations,” he stated.

Pressed on whether his latest statement meant that his party would field another candidate, he coyly responded by affirming that ODM would definitely field a presidential candidate in 2022.

However, the prominent leader refused to disclose any information regarding the mysterious candidate, adding that when the right time comes, the party would follow the proper procedure in selecting its flag bearer.
