Ruto’s Wing of Inua Mama Defiant, Say They Will Not Disband The Group, Term Uhuru a Failure

    Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege on Wednesday evening, November 27, revealed that women leaders had decided to end the division between them, during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative report at the Bomas of Kenya.

    The women leaders have for a while now been divided into two factions; Team Embrace, a group allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and Inua Mama, a group allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

    As of today, as women leaders in this country, we are killing the different women groups; Team Embrace and Inua Mama. Following the BBI report, women leaders in Kenya will be united,” Chege had affirmed.

    The Inua Mama chairperson, Alice Wahome, also took to social media to contradict Sabina’s sentiments, citing that Inua Mama was about changing the lives of women.

    “So far so good. We are doing well (referring to the Bomas meeting). Point of correction and clarification: Inua mama is all about empowering women socially and economically.

    “Not a tool for political advancements and therefore can’t be merged with other groups with different agenda other than that. However, ideas on how we can reach out to more women in mashinani are most welcome,” the Kandara MP posted on Facebook.

    Taking to his Twitter page, Denis Itumbi also waded into the issue. Itumbi posted photos of various projects that Inua Mama had initiated, adding that Inua Mama had a social empowerment agenda.

    “Dear Sabina Chege, Embrace, let us face it had a political agenda, if any. Inua Mama has a social empowerment agenda. Inua Mama, therefore, will not hold [sic]. Here some pictures to remind you what Inua is,” Itumbi stated.

    The remark did not seem to impress the lawmaker, who in turn fiercely responded;

    ‘Will answer you back when you become a woman. Enjoy your evening,” Sabina remarked.

    Uasin Gishu County Woman Rep Gladys Sholei , on Thursday, November 28, tore into President Uhuru Kenyatta over what she termed as an abject failure.

    Speaking during the Day Break show on Citizen TV, Shollei stated that Uhuru’s decision to launch the BBI report was evidence that he had fallen short of the expectations set out during his campaigns.

    “I think if I read the BBI report and compare it with the Jubilee manifesto basically he is saying ‘I have failed’,” the legislator argued.

    During the show, the legislator who is known for her unflinching support for Deputy President William Ruto, also claimed that the report was non-inclusive and that it was made by a select group of individuals
