President Uhuru Kenyatta’s contradicting remark and move to express his interest in a new political position in the forthcomming 2022 polls has caused a stir in the country.
According to reports, President Kenyatta told the Mount Kenya political leaders at a meeting held in Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri Country that he would not mind the Prime Minster’s position if it was handed to him.
President Kenyatta’s statement during the Sagana meeting with Gema leaders reads, “I do not know the contents of the BBI report yet I hear people claiming Uhuru Kenyatta wants to become the Prime Minister of Kenya. I wouldn’t mind being in leadership in such a post, though let us deal with the current situation first.”
President Kenyatta during the launch of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) station in Naivasha on October 16, Uhuru said that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is not meant to create positions as some politicians alleged.
Uhuru addressing the Gema leaders at the Sagana Lodge, echod the Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli’s sentiments that he is too young to retire.
Atwoli sensationally stated during the JKLive interview on 23 October that Kenyatta had every chance to lead the country again.
President Kenyatta’s sentiments caused ripples in the country forcing Kenyans to react to the President’s information by sharing their views on the shocking moves by the Head of State.
Fred Wao reacting to the President’s sentiments remarked, “You need to know Uhuru will be our powerful Prime Minister. The presidency will be a ceremonial post!”
Gideon Kibinduki also reacted, “Uhuru used Ruto to win the presidency and get reelected, he is done with him and wants to use Raila to get the powerful position of Prime Minister once done he will pick Gideon Moi.”
