The government has dispatched helicopters, boats, its cabinet Secretaries and top state officials to coordinate this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations, that start this morning across the country. This year, over 1 million pupils will sit for the exams and it is the first time the exams are being done this year under the tenure of the combative Education CS George Magoha. Candidates will sit the mathematics and English papers in the morning and write English composition in the afternoon.
This year, the government did not want a repeat of last year’s events where exams supervisors were disadvantaged with bad weather and poor terrains that made it difficult for the papers to be delivered in time to the pupils thus inconveniencing the process.
This morning, Interior CS Fred Matiangi was in Gilgil to officially open the exam papers, his colleague in the Education Ministry was in Nairobi, Tourism CS was coordinating the activities at the Coast while Transport CS James Macharia is spearheading the Central Kenya region activities.
