Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) agent shot dead on Tuesday 15 October after chaos erupted during Ganda Ward by-election campaigns, ahead of the region’s upcoming poll scheduled for 17 October 2019.
Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa stormed a venue where the ODM meeting was ongoing and causing drama and chaos which led to the killing of an ODM party agent.
The meeting was held by the ODM agents to strategize on how they would oversee and monitor the Ganda ward the mini-poll on October 17.
A correspondent from the region confirmed the deceased as Gumbao Jola, an uncle to Reuben Katana, ODM’s aspirant in the Ganda Ward by-election.
The video doing around social media shows Legislator Aisha Jumwa stormed the venue with police after which the scuffle ensued, ODM agent killed during the chaos, though it is still not clear who pulled the trigger.
According to a source on the ground stated that Aisha Jumwa arrived at the venue in a white car surrounded by bodyguards disrupting a meeting where the victim was shot dead immediately though it was clear who shot him.
Malindi Sub-county Police Commander Phillip Wambugu stated that an investigation has been launched while confirming the incident; Aisha Jumwa however, denied any involvement in the scuffle.
