According to reports, Chaos erupted at Gitu Catholic Church in Murang’a County on Sunday 8 September 2019 after the nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda clashed Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro.
The two leaders Kamanda and Nyoro exchanged serious blows over a simple issue of who should welcome present leaders to speak at the altar in Gitu Catholic church.
This incident occurred during fundraising by the Kieleweke team at the Jubilee party.
Kiharu Member of Parliament Nyoro abruptly stopped the function claiming protocol should be observed.
It is reported that the Kiharu MP Nyoro came in later after the allied Kieleweke team members were already in their seats.
When MP Nyoro’s turns reached, he addressed the congregation and insisted to invite a guest to address the crowd too, a matter which was strongly objected by Maina Kamanda.
Nyoro maintained his stand and said he cannot allow people from Nairobi to take over his constituency and also added he is the elected leader of that area.
Nyoro demanded Kamada to produce the list of guests present so he can invite them.
The issue led Nyoro’s supporters to flood the altar in support of their Member of Parliament.
The Church Elders’ trial to intervene amounted to naughtier wary war as the parties pushed the two leaders to the edge of the crowd that stepped in the altar.
The Church Priest in charge Fr. John Kibuuru tried to calm the situation down but the congregation was divided into MP Nyoro and Kamanda’s groups.
