Punguza Mizigo Initiative driven by Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot is now alleged to be associated with Deputy President William Ruto as he being the chief financier.
It had been suspected that the Dp had a hand in the Punguza Mizigo Initiative, and the events of the past week confirmed the speculations.
DP William Ruto is purported to be using Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot to advance his agenda of making sure the BBI team does not have their way.
The DP has a feeling that if BBI Team succeeds, then his road to the presidency is a mere pipe dream and a doomed voyage. Therefore, the only way to keep his presidential hopes burning is through sponsoring the Punguza Mizigo Bill.
A number of DP’s principal allies have voiced their indisputable support of Dr. Aukot’s bill even mobilizing the Ruto leaning counties to pass the bill.
In Elgeyo Marakwet county, Majority Leader in the Senate, Kipchumba Murkomen is already rallying the MCAs to pass the initiative terming it a solution to the country’s problems.
Kipchumba Murkomen is part and parcel of the Government and is expected to throw weighty support behind the BBI. Instead, he’s one of the key allies of the DP on record a number of times lobbying for the Punguza Mizigo Bill.
In 2010 DP William Ruto took the same route where he led the NO team against the push for a new 2010 constitution, something that left him crushed.
It’s also believed that Ruto is already positioning his soldiers to take on Uhuru and Raila front, something that could destroy him politically.
“We don’t fear a referendum at all. Let them bring it on. At the end of the day, we will respect the decision of the majority of Kenyans. Let us meet at the ballot,” Soy MP Caleb Kositany remarked.
In addition, another Ruto ally, Kandara MP Alice Wahome also highlighted that “Nobody fears a referendum at all. What we are opposed to is a referendum that seeks to enable a few people to get power. We already know, for example, who wants to be Prime Minister and the two deputies,” she said.
DP Ruto’s MPs are so far the public face of Punguza Mizigo. whereas Dr, Ekuru Aukot is seen secretly sneaking to present his bill to County Assemblies, and all these are considered to be friendly to Ruto.
