AU Envoy Raila Odinga will be among a number of African leaders set to be feted on August 16th at Nairobi’s Sarova Hotel. The Voice Magazine Awards, an international recognition founded by Ambassador Elvis Iruh from the Netherlands recognizes continental as well as global leaders in the roles they have played in reforming their countries as well as the continent. Also tipped to be awarded alongside Raila Odinga is Uganda’s Kiza Besigye.
“Each year people from various walks of life nominates individuals who they deem fit to be recognized for their contributions towards the advancement of Africa,” said Ambassador Elvis Iruh.
Other Kenyan leaders to be awarded include Foreign ministry Chief Administrative Secretary Ababu Namwamba Ababu Namwamba who is set to achieve the African Inspirational Leadership Award. Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana will be given the Governor of the Year Award.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has been nominated for the Africa Community Figure Award, while Archbishop Arthur Kitonga and his wife, Josephine have been jointly nominated for the Africa Courageous Award. Mozambique First Lady, Isaura Nyusi has been nominated for the African Heroine Award.
Other Kenyan recipients are lawyer PLO Lumumba, Lady Justice Aluoch, Raphael Obonyo, Big Ted Kwaka, Connie Aluoch, Obi Emelonye, Lydia Tet Olet, Kadogo Naus Nyawade and James Mureu.
