There are honest politicians who stand by what they say, then there is DP William Ruto, who will say something today and do the exact opposite next day. After assuring the president and all leaders present at the late Governor Joyce Laboso’s burial in Fort Tenan, how he will be at the forefront preaching unity, Ruto is back on his usual political engagements. The DP was in Liakipia on Sunday with his Tanga Tanga brigade preaching 2022 politics like nothing had ever happened. He also went after Raila Odinga whom he had pledged to bury the hatchet and work hand in hand with in achieving President Uhuru’s agenda.
”There are some people who want to correct the Bible by saying that blessed are those who receive rather than those who give,” Ruto said at Nanyuki Stadium, Laikipia in apparent reference to those opposed to his weekend donations to churches.
Ruto also took a swipe at people he claims want to destroy the unity in Jubilee saying they are outsiders who only thrive on chaos. The DP, who was accompanied by a host of Tanga Tanga allied MPs.
”There are these friends of ours whom we invited in our house but now want to tell us how to do things. We remind them to relax. You cant be invited into someone’s house and then you now want to show them how things are done,” he said.
Ever since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and AU Envoy Raila Odinga, the DP has been feeling Odinga has displaced him in government. He has taken issue with Raila’s continued support on the president’s war on corruption, saying institutions tasked with eliminating graft are being used by outsiders as a political tool.
He was accompanied by MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Anthony Kiai (Mukurwe ini), Faith Gitau (Nyandarua) Wangui Ngirichi (Kirinyaga County) and Mary Waithira (Maragua) voiced support for Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
