She has caused a storm in what was supposed to be a peaceful send off to the departed Kibra MP Ken Okoth. Nominated MCA to the Nairobi County Assembly Ann Nthumbi is at the center of controversy which has degenerated into a court battle stopping the burial of Ken Okoth.
Ann Nthumbi is a former Nurse with the Agha Khan Hospital. Before her nomination to the Nairobi County as an MCA, she was employed by Governor Sonko in his Sonko Rescue Team. The 31 year old who has a 5 year old son with the late Kibra hails from Tetu, Nyeri County.
At the Nairobi County Assembly, she is a member of four committees including the Public Health Services, Energy Information, Communications and Technology; Culture and Community Services and the Delegated County Legislation committees.
Ms Ann Nthumbi has made a list of demands among them a lumpsum payment and DNA samples demand before Ken Okoth is buried. She manged to stop the cremation or burial of the MP in orders granted by Magistrate Grace Mmasi, pending hearing on August 9th.
”An interim temporary injunction be and is hereby issued restraining the two either by themselves, their servants or agents from conducting the burial, interment, cremation or any other manner whatsoever to dispose of Mr Okoth’s remains,” said Ms Mmasi.
Ms Nthumbi also wants her son be included in all burial arrangements, rituals and traditions relating to the final sendoff of the MP. Consequently, she wants an order against the estate of the deceased, requesting for an immediate lump sum payment of the minor’s school fees.
Eventhough the nominated MCA accepts that Monica is the only recognized wife of the late Kibra MP, she wants her son acknowledged since his academic future remains uncertain.
