Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker resigns over personal reasons

    The Kirinyaga County Assembly speaker David Githanda has resigned citing personal reasons.

    Mr Githanda tendered his resignation on Tuesday in a notice addressed to the county assembly and said his resignation takes effect on August 15.

    “I do hereby tender my resignation as Speaker of the County Assembly of Kirinyaga for personal reasons. My resignation takes effect from 15th August 2019. Hopefully, from the date of this letter to the said date, the Assembly shall have commenced the process of appointment of a speaker to ensure smooth transition,” read the letter by Mr Githanda.

    He was sworn in in February 2018
