In a rare appearance and 60 second interview on the media, the deeply guarded and camera shy, former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has urged Kenyan leaders to focus on building the nation and be trustworthy, as opposed to what currently is going on in the country.The current political terrain especially within Jubilee is one where leaders have resorted to politics of 2022 and personal gain instead of focusing on nation building and less politics.
While speaking to the media during the memorial of businessman and city tycoon Jeremiah Kiereni, Mrs Kenyatta also urged the youth to love their country and emulate leaders like the late Kiereni who had the interest of Kenya at heart.Kiereni was the Head of Civil Service during President Jomo Kenyatta’s administration.
”Jeremiah Kiereini and the leaders who were there before led by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta laid a good foundation for this country. If only the leaders we have today could be trustworthy like those who there before, this country would have made great progress, ” she said.
“I ask the current generation to put the interests of the country first so that you can steer this country in the right direction and inculcate good morals and patriotism to your children.”
Mama Ngina Kenyatta, who is also President Uhuru Kenyatta’s mother shares in the sentiments of her son, who is currently facing turbulent times withing his own ruling party of Jubilee as well as the Cabinet after his deputy, William Ruto made damning claims on how some members have been plotting on how to assassinate him.
