Deputy President William Ruto is not about to stop his Tanga Tanga trips any time soon.In an open defiance and a direct attack to President Uhuru Kenyatta, the DP said nobody will stop him from planning on how to be president, and that he should not be gagged over 2022. Ruto’s remarks point to the continuing drift between him and the president, with this latest statement pointing at two individuals reading from separate scripts. Uhuru has called on the DP to focus on the Big 4, instead of 2022 politics.
While speaking in Baringo county during a fundraiser for over 35 churches, the DP said even Christians prepare for the second coming of Jesus, yet they do not know the day nor the hour.
‘“You plan for today and the future .And that is why when we go for these public rallies, they say we are in Jubilee and organised for tomorrow. Is there a problem with that?Do you know the date of going to heaven? But you have faith that we are going to heaven? So with this 2022 which we know the date, the week and the month, is there a problem when we plan?” Ruto asked.
Ruto proceeded to rally the Kalenjin block behind his back telling them to get ready to take over power in 2022 and that nobody should threaten or gag them from talking about 2022.
“No one should ever threaten or mislead you. Instead, we should unite so we can take over the leadership of this country.”
However, it is worthy to note legislators from Uhuru’s backyard of Central Kenya have stopped to frequently accompany the DP to his functions after President Uhuru’s angry dress down at the annual Akorino meeting in Kasarani, almost a month ago.Unlike previously, the DP is accompanied largely by leaders from his back yard and a number from the Western region.
President Uhuru Kenyatta gave a stern warning to Tanga Tanga MPs from the Mt Kenya region saying he would smoke them out and crash them if they persisted with constant politicking instead of working for their constituents.
“If you are a mheshimiwa, go back to the grassroots and build schools and connect people to power with the money you are given. Stop going around telling us how you are going to rise to power. There is nowhere you will go without these people,” Uhuru said.
