Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso is returning home after months of treatment abroad.According to a statement from the governor’s office, she is expected back in the country after a few days, but will not be resuming duties yet.Governor Laboso was transferred from a London hospital last month to India for further treatment.
“The office of the governor would like to inform the residents of Bomet and the general public that the Governor is set to return home in a few days.Upon her return, however, the governor will continue with her medication reviews locally as per her doctor’s advice,” said Director of Communication Mr Ezra Kirui.
Last week, politicians, including former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, visited Laboso on India, where she was receiving treatment. Laboso became the second governor of Bomet County after beating Isaac Rutto who vied on the same seat using CCM.
Also MPs from Bomet, including Senator Christopher Langat, Woman Rep Joyce Korir, Dominic Koskei (Sotik), Beatrice Kones (Bomet East) and Ms Beatrice Elachi visited the governor in India.
Among those who visited Dr Laboso at the hospital in the United Kingdom were ODM leader Raila Odinga, Chief Justice David Maraga and his wife Yucabeth, Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK Manoah Esipisu, Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony and Konoin MP Brighton Yegon.
She comes home after Kibra MP, who has been in France receiving treatment for cancer came back home to resume work after months of being away. Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi has been acting as the Kibra MP, temporarily when Okoth has been away.
