The NIS has been called to join in on the ongoing investigations over an alleged plot to eliminate Deputy President William Ruto. This comes at a time the government has vowed to get to the bottom of this sensitive issue and why such reckless statements were made by officials from DP Ruto’s office.
The top state spies have teamed up with DCI officers from the Cyber Crime Unit to unravel Ruto’s claims. NIS has been tasked with undertaking background investigations into allegations by Ruto that a group of leaders from Mt Kenya held a meeting where his assassination was discussed.
It is coming to light that a report by NIS was used as a the launching pad to arrest Itumbi. Investigators familiar with the matter said the report has details of Itumbi’s mobile phone numbers and a statement from a man only identified as Sam, who the police claim told them that Itumbi posted the letter.
A multi agency group of investigators has been brought together from the NIS, the DCI,FBI and the Kenya Police to ensure no stone remains unturned in the ongoing investigations.Top on the team’s agenda is to track the origin of the letter purported to have been sent to State House with details of the alleged murder plans. The same letter has been circulating on social media platforms.
