Harambee Stars Prove Naysayers Wrong, Smash Tanzania to Smithereens as Raila’s Prophecy Comes to Pass

Kenya’s Harambee Stars have proven naysayers wrong in their much awaited face off against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.The Kenyan National Team  was already written off by a number of fans, both locally and abroad considering their bad start, which they were downed by Algeria 2 goals to nil.Michael Olunga struck twice as Kenya came from behind to pick up a 3-2  win over Tanzania in their second Group  C Match of the African Cup of Nations.The Japan-based forward equalized in the first half and scored the 80th-minute winner in a lively East African derby.

Earlier on, while giving the team a pep talk after the 2-0 loss to Algeria, Raila Odinga assured the players Tanzania would be the first team to take 3 points from, something which has come to pass.This crucial win against Tanzania put Stars at a fighting position to continue with their  aggressive campaign for the last 16.

Harambee Stars face Senegal on Monday in another crucial match to qualify for round of 16.

Johanna Omollo was also on target  for Kenya, who trailed 2-1 at half-time.Saimon Msuva and Mbwana Samatta netted for Tanzania, who have never won a Cup of Nations match in two appearances spanning 39 years.

Earlier on at the same venue, Algeria clipped Senegal 1-0  in a blockbuster Group C  fixture to qualify for the last 16, assuming leadership of the group on six points, Youcef Belaili scoring the all important goal.Algeria is on six as Senegal and Kenya are on three apiece, with the Taifa Stars rock bottom with zero despite their battling performance here.

Kenya faces another crucial on Monday against wounded Senegalese Lions to have a strong case for a knockout slot.
