Multiple Sources Reveal Why Former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba May Be on His Way Back to ODM

    Raila Odinga and Ababu Namwamba.

Multiple sources have revealed former Budalangi MP and current Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs  Ababu Namwamba could be on his back to his former ODM, which he ditched in the run up to 2017 elections.

It is said Namwamba has held multiple private  meetings with the ODM leader at his private offices in Capitol Hill, pointing to a possibility of mending their relationship for a possible return to the Orange party.Sources also reveal Raila Odinga is happy with Ababu’s return considering he is the one who introduced the former legislator into politics 13 years ago.

Ababu’s move comes after Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala started gravitating towards DP William Ruto in his politics even inviting the DP a week ago in his constituency of Budalangi.

It is believed the former MP is capitalizing on this to return to elective politics, given Budalangi is an ODM stronghold. Also, Namwamba has political ambitions of being Busia county’s governor and it would only be possible if he vied using the most popular party in the region.

Ababu Namwamba and Raphael Wanjala do not see eye to eye, only two weeks ago, the MP attacked Ababu Namwamba’s PA at a funeral for trying to undermine him.In a video published by the Star, Namwamba’s PA Erick Obayi told Wanjala that they had no business to do with him, words that elicited heckling from the crowd.

The MP was constrained from leaving his seat by his bodyguards, as he wanted to attack the PA.Sisi hatuna jambo lolote na wewe (We have no problem with you). We don’t have any business with you…” said Obayi before he was cut short by angry crowd.

According to reports by the Star, Obayi had earlier called for Namwamba to be respected as a government official.“We would like you to know next time you invite him to an event that he holds a position in government. He is not just a former MP, but a government official,” he said.
