Barely five days ago- Kerio Valley Development Authority Managing Director David Kimosop was sacked.
The KVDA board announced the sacking on Thursday after meeting in Eldoret under the leadership of Chairman Jackson Kiptanui.
“The board has subsequently appointed Francis Kipkech to act as Managing Director in the interim period until a substantive MD is appointed,” the board said in an unsigned press statement.
Kiptanui confirmed on phone that the services of Kimosop had been terminated with immediate effect following a unanimous decision by all board members.
KVDA has been on the spot over alleged loss of Sh21 billion meant for the yet to be constructed Arror and Kimwarer dams in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The two dams were to cost more than Sh65 billion prompting the DCI to launch investigations into the scandal. Kimosop is among more than 30 people, including Finance CS Henry Rotich, who have been grilled by the DCI over the dam scandals.
Kenyan Report has details that Kimosop is a bitter man. Sources intimated that the disgraced former MD could be contemplating cutting a deal with investigators should the DPP decide to open charges against him over the Arror and Kimwarer dams.
Having been thrown under the bus, he is ready to rat out all the big names involved in the scandal that gripped the Country.
Kimosop has termed his recent sacking unfair saying he will pursue reasons for his sacking by KVDA Board.
Saying that his contract was to end in May 2021, the former CEO said he was surprised by sacking on Thursday by the Board even after it had expressed satisfaction with his performance.
Some Rift Valley leaders said they feared that the sacking of the MD just when the multi-billion Kimwarer and Arror projects were almost taking off may delay the projects which they said would transform the Kerio Valley.
However, Kipkech who has been Deputy CEO at KVDA for more than 15 years assured residents that he would ensure that all projects are implemented as planned and called for cooperation from everybody for him to succeed.
