Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago who recently distanced himself from Tanga Tanga activities in the North Rift is bereaved after his brother was murdered in cold blood and his maimed body found in building under construction in Eldoret. The governor’s elder brother had just been transferred from Kisumu to Eldoret, where he has been working at Kenya Pipeline Company.
Commenting on the incident, Moiben deputy county commissioner Lilian Langat said the police have launched an aggressive investigations to make sure all those involved in this heinous crime are brought to book.
”Investigations are ongoing to unravel the cause of death. We have not had any case of insecurity here and the incident is surprising. The body was found in an abandoned section of the building and police are carrying out the investigations so that we get to know exactly what happened,” said Langat.
The deceased is said to be friendly and a very polite man who elated well with others.According to Jeremiah Rotich, the proprietor of the hotel construction in which the body was found, a plumber who had been called for maintenance was searching for a container to fetch water when he stumbled on the body.
“The plumber was looking for a tin when he walked to the area under construction and found the body of a well-dressed man,” said Mr Rotich. Rotich said the man was a regular customer at the hotel and that he often visits during weekends.“The man was seen in a neighboring joint with some friends last weekend but we do not know how his body ended up here,” he said.
This begs the question as to whether this was a political hit against the governor or if it was just another case of murder. If the deceased was regular at the hotel, then his murder might have been premeditated somewhere and executed at the most appropriate time. These are some of the things investigators are expected to unravel in coming days and find out what exactly happened.
