Three DCI officers have been attacked in West Pokot County by a rowdy mob. The officers were acting on a tip off they received of a suspect who was an arms dealer and had been on the DCI radar for some time.
The officers are nursing serious injuries in Sigor sub-county hospital after being ambushed by the mob with stones in Lomut trading center where they had gone to act on the tip off.
Reportedly, the mob that had descended on the officers helped the suspect escape. The area police boss confirmed the incident citing that no criminal activity will be tolerated in the area and they have launched a manhunt for the suspect who is currently on the run.
Jackson Tumwet , area police boss noted, “ The man has been on the DCI radar and is believed to have been selling ammunition for years. He was either coming to sell or to buy the ammunition”.
Residents have since been warned against sympathizing with criminals and to help police nub them instead.
