The charm of a pretty woman especially if she is a woman in power is one not many a man can resist.
Former National National Irrigation Board General Manager Eng Daniel Barasa is involved in an embarrassing love drama with Kenya Railways Corporation acting Managing Director Philip Mainga over a pretty and outspoken female politician.
It began when the crafty politician whose modus operandi is sprawling over gullible men ‘of substance’ walked into Barasa’s office on Lenana Road to canvass for some tenders. Known to have loved the finer things in life when he was at the top of the Irrigation- the MP left his office with not only a tender- but also his heart.
The immediate former Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a, Eng Barasa’s erstwhile soul mate liaison with Eng Barasa is understood to have been premised on the engineer’s hold on the lucrative state corporation.
Through her, Barasa siphoned billions from Unyunyizi house that he used to buy the Mheshimiwa an ultra-modern house along Thika road.
Barasa was at the helm when the parastatal was then undertaking multi-billion shilling irrigation programmes headlined by the Galana Kulalu food security project. When him and Alice were not getting warm at the mansion they shared on Thika road, the MP was busy putting up million-shilling apartments here and there, notably in the upscale Hurlingham neighborhood.
And the cuddling did pay up as the ex law maker got pregnant for the big man, cementing her position even further.
Unfortunately, the tidings changed for Barasa and down he came tumbling. And just like that- the go-getter by all standards, Mheshmiwa then easily charmed her way into another man’s embrace- enter Mainga, the new Kenya Railways boss
Would you blame her? With Barasa losing his fiscal flavour and consequently with the allure of lucrative tenders, high-end lifestyle and other juicy favors gone-Ng’ang’a seems to have had enough of “this man” Barasa.
The melanin dripping Barasa who had thrown his first wife into the periphery when the sharp nosed Alice walked into his life got the shock of his life.
Upon her surprise loss to little known Patrick Wainaina in the August 2017 polls, the former MP retreated to unfamiliar silence – not even appointment to a senior position in government was in the offing.
Her next target (affair with Mainga) is another jackpot owing to the booming Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) projects.
But Barasa is not quitting without a kick. Barasa is said to be sharpening his arsenal in readiness for the battle of a lifetime. A source close to him says the civil engineer has been burning with rage as he plots to get back “what rightfully belongs to him”.
The former moneybags could be angling for his investments with the former MP at all cost, including repossessing some of the property he funded.
