ODM leader and AU High Representative on Infrastructure Raila Odinga met with ODM Deputy Leader Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Governor Amason Kingi as well as Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori. This meeting comes at the backdrop of ODM’s National Governing Council meeting which ratified and adopted the decision to expel Kilifi MP Aisha Jumwa from the party.
The expulsion of Aisha Jumwa from the Orange Party has received mixed reactions from leaders across Kilifi County, with the governor, Amason Kingi saying he was taken by surprise on the Malindi MP’s expulsion from the party, and had talked to Raila Odinga on the issue.Msambweni MP, Suleiman Dori on the other hand was forgiven by the party after he appeared before its disciplinary committee and submitted a written apology for going against the party that sponsored him to parliament.
Today’s meeting is believed to ensure The ODM Party remains to be the most dominant party for people at the Coastal strip and that any in house issues did not affect the party’s popularity at the grassroots. Governors Joho and Kingi are the most influential ODM leaders at the Coast who hold sway on political issues. Issuing a statement on the meeting, Odinga’s handlers said the four leaders met to discuss ‘’ issues of national interest with a particular emphasis on the coastal region .’’
