The owner of Thika based Africa Spirits Ltd producing illicit liquor and evading taxes billionaire Humphrey Kariuki has been arrested.
The Kenyan tycoon was arrested this morning by heavily armed contigent of DCI officers in an early morning dramatic operation.
Kariuki was being pursued by police after Kenya Revenue Authority and investigating detectives found out his liquor manufacturing firm has been producing fake liquor and evaded paying taxes in the excess of Sh 3 billion.
Kariuki was arrested alongside his wife Nyawira Wangari and their daughter from one of their hideouts in highend Kileleshwa estate and are currently being detained at Kileleshwa police station before being presented to court.
The DCI boss George Kinoti had expressed confidence that they were determined to apprehend Kariuki for questioning for endangering the lives of Kenyans and stealing from them by failing to pay taxes.
Until his arrest, Kariuki had sort refuge in Zambia since early last year after getting wind he was being trailed by Kenyan authorities over his Thika based firm. However, hiding abroad was definitely going to worsen things for him as Kenyan authorities were already in a process of requesting Interpol to issues a Red Notice Alert to locate and arrest the Africa Spirits Billionaire from wherever he would be across the world.
To avoid the international embarrasment with his vast international business empire, sources told us that Humphrey Kariuki decided to secretly fly into the country this morning on board his Sh3Billion Private Jet with the hope of negotiating a deal to block his arrest and prosecution.
But Humphrey Kariuki is an unlucky man living at a time when Kenyan law enforcement system seems to be working.
