It is official, a new political alliance is in the offing. The alliance will bring together Raila Odinga led ODM, Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper and a faction that is breaking out of the current Jubilee and who are against Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid.
The new anti- Ruto faction is being spearheaded by resigned Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe.
“We are ready to form a new coalition and I can tell you for sure it will crush Ruto and his group. I can tell him for free that he will be lucky to be an opposition leader,” Murathe yesterday told a local Daily.
Ruto’s allies are unsettled with the new move to form a new alliance and are convinced that Murathe may be acting for powerful forces in State House-read- the President
“As party members, we are asking ourselves why Murathe made these statements. Even if he has resigned, he should not be ignored. He is a political broker,” said Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang alluded to a cartel within State House that has been plotting against the DP.
“What every Kenyan is asking, who is Murathe speaking for? When a county is preparing for change of guard, there are always political machination around State House. We are seeing history repeating itself, where there is cartel organizing to block DP from ascending to power,” claimed the governor.
And now, Ruto’s wing have convened a meeting scheduled for next week to determine way forward.
National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali said the defunct 13 Jubilee affiliates intend to to confront the onslaught against Ruto in that meeting.
“We sacrificed our parties and formed Jubilee. We dissolved our parties on the slogan that ‘Tuko Pamoja’. But it appears we are not together. We want to get answers,” the Mumias East MP said.
“All was well until President Uhuru brought Raila Odinga in through the back-door. You can’t bring a man we defeated in an election through the back-door,” the Mumias East MP claimed.
