The National Youth Service is on the news again for all the wrong reasons.DPP Noordin Haji discontinued fraud charges against 11 suspects among them senior NYS staff Acting Director General Mr.Rodgers Nzioka,Timothy Kiplagat Rotich, Mr Charles Mulandi, Jackson Juma, Humphrey Odhiambo,Bernard Masika and auditor at the treasury Josephat Njoroge.

Mr.Haji did not give reasons as to why he withdrew the charges. The application was filed through State Prosecutor Riung Gitonga.Mr.Haji Mr Haji noted his right to discontinue charges at any stage before the judgment. The case was being heard before Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko who ordered for their cash bail and sureties to be returned. The accused persons did not oppose the withdrawal of charges.

This is a big blow to Kenyans as the fight against corruption seems bleak. This is depsite the fact that President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law the NYS Act which will establish an agency that will revamp operations through clear cut controls deterring the embezzlement of public funds.
