After pulling the Miguna Miguna nomination to spite on Cartels, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko says he is ready to nominate a new deputy governor to replace Polycarp Igathe who resigned from the position in January.
Sonko on Wednesday said he had whittled down his long list of 10 to four names (women) and he is only waiting to consult with Jubilee Party leadership on who to pick.
They are business lady Agnes Kagure, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Lawyer Karen Nyamu and Jane Weru.
“I am still consulting with my party leadership that is the President, deputy president, Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, Nairobi County leadership as well as other party leaders and I can assure you that I will appoint a deputy soon,” stated Sonko.
He also said that his preference was that he appointed a woman to the position for gender equality purposes.
He disclosed that the move to nominate Miguna was as a result of pressure from different quarters within the Jubilee camp and only appointed Miguna to ‘annoy’ his adversaries who were blackmailing him on who he should appoint as the DG.
