ODM leader Raila Odinga has defended the Party’s decision to initiate disciplinary action against rebel MPs from the Coast who have been campaigning for DP William Ruto’s 2022 bid.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV from his Karen home, Raila told Journalist Hussein Mohamed that ODM as a party has warned its members against engaging in the 2022 presidential discourses.
He said the rebels led by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Msambweni’s Suleiman Dori have gone against party ideologies and can go ahead and resign and join Jubilee.
He gave an example to when he resigned from Ford Kenya when he differed with the party ideologically and went for a by-election on a different party and won.
Chairman John Mbadi has accused the two legislators of their continued violation of the Political Parties Act and the party constitution by making unsubstantiated claims and wild allegations individually or collectively which he says are tantamount to termination of their membership from the ODM.
They two have been given seven days from the date of the issuance of the letters to respond failure to which action will be taken against them without any further correspondence in accordance with article 8 (4) of the ODM Constitution.
Attached herein are the letters served to the two lawmakers.
