Passaris Begs to Take Miguna’s Place as Nairobi Deputy Governor

Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris has urged Governor Mike Sonko to appoint her to the vacancy of Deputy Governor.

Her request to the amusement of many was not shy of conditions that she be allocated specific departments to run.

Ms Passaris has demanded that if picked as Sonko’s Deputy, she should be allowed to have Environment, Water, Education and Trade Departments under her watch, in what she terms a would-be ‘handshake partnership’.

“I can only go there if I am given clear departments to run. I want environment, water, education and trade,” she was quoted.

She added: “The governor needs a Deputy and if he cannot find one, then I am willing to take the position to help him.”

The governor nominated fiery lawyer Miguna Miguna, in what is understood that he [Miguna] declined.

The seat of Deputy Governor in the Nairobi County fell vacant following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe, who cited lack of trust in him to run the county in his resignation letter.
