Manchester United confirmed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal earlier on this week. The deal was announced via Twitter, with United posting a video of Sanchez playing ‘Glory glory Man United on the piano’.
The 29-year-old Chile international forward expressed his joy in joining the Red Devils. Sanchez further added how he is looking forward to working with Jose Mourinho. Before joining Manchester United, Sanchez spent three-and-a-half years at Arsenal also as the forward.
Sanchez is presumably the highest ever paid player in the Premier League, with reports of US $610,000 in pre-tax salary per week. He is also making history as the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team.
Some of the other players who have worn the jersey with success in the past include; George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Christiano Ronaldo.
Sanchez had joined Arsenal in 2014 for US $38.7m after three years at Barcelona. According to Jose Mourinho, Alexis is one of the best forwards in the world. As such, he will complete their very young and talented group of attacking players. Mkhitaryan joined United for around US $36.6 in 2016 after three years at Borussia Dortmund.
