Tanzania’s President John Pombe Magufuli is set to attend President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing-in that is set for tomorrow Tuesday 28, sources privy to the information has revealed.
The surprise move has thrown the Kenya political scene into a limbo as Magufuli is believed to be a close ally to the National Social Alliance leader Mr. Raila Odinga.
The diplomatic ties between Tanzania and Kenya have been previously been sour owing to actions that have subsequently divided the two countries. Barely weeks ago, President Magufuli ordered auctioning of some cattle belonging to Kenyan herders that had crossed the border to graze in Tanzania.
“Tanzania is not a grazing land to any country. If you feel that Tanzanians break law in your country, do also the same,’ Magufuli harsh remarks were quoted by a leading local daily in what is believed to have been directed to the Kenyan government.
Raila traveled to Zanzibar last week and sources close to the information claimed that he had a secret meeting with Magufuli with details about their meeting remain rather flimsy.
Magufuli has publicly admitted having learned a lot from the former Prime Minister.
