The National Super Alliance party has said that it will hold nationwide demonstrations on Election Day that is slated for October 26.
Speaking during a rally in Nairobi’s Kamukunji grounds, Nasa leader Raila Odinga said that the demos are a press for electoral reforms.
“IEBC has failed to meet the necessary qualifications to hold free, fair and credible elections. Chebukati’s statement today is a clear indication that the electoral body is in bed with Jubilee administration. They are dancing to their tunes. As such we are saying no election on October 26,” Mr. Odinga declared.
The coalition further called for a meaningful dialogue as the current condition is not conducive for any electoral process to happen.
Mr. Odinga weighed in on the agency’s commissioner Roselyn Akombe resignation on Tuesday saying that there is a clear indication that the government is interfering with IEBC. His comments come after a stern warning by President Uhuru Kenyatta that anyone who will attempt to interrupt the repeat presidential elections will face dire consequences.
